Mr. Kemp To Represent The Bahamas In Mr World

Nassau, Bahamas - Kendrick David Kemp, the winner of the Male Model Muse Competition at the Islands of the World Fashion Week held in November, 2009, has been selected by the Miss World Bahamas organizers to represent The Bahamas at the Mr. World Competition scheduled to be held on Saturday, 27^th March, in Incheon, South Korea. Mr. Kemp leaves The Bahamas for South Korea on 11^th March to prepare for the final and participate in a number of preliminary events.

Mr. Kemp won the title of Male Model Muse during the finals of The Muse Model Search Competition as a part of the Islands of the World Fashion Week. He was chosen over eight finalists representing The Bahamas, Barbados, Haiti, St. Kitts & Nevis, and Trinidad & Tobago. The title of Female Model Muse was won by Giovara Gertruida of Curacao.

The winners of the Muse Model Search Competition receive a cash prize and become the face of Islands of the World Fashion Week for the ensuing year. In addition they appear in promotional campaigns for designers and sponsors, and travel with the team on the newly launched Islands of the World Fashion Tour, with scheduled appearances in Palm Springs, California, Chicago, and Miami. Mr. Kemp has also been recently featured on the runway of the Joann Berman show during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York in February, 2010.

Mr. Kemp states that he is “looking forward to representing The Bahamas proudly at Mr. World. I feel that I truly embody the characteristics for which the competition is known, namely identifying that man in the world who can best show his ‘strength, stamina, mental agility and determination to succeed in the face of adversity’. I am confident that I will do my best. I wish to thank the local Miss Bahamas World organization, Michelle Malcolm, and Macumbla Smith who has stepped in to assist with training and choreography and, of course, my family, Mode Iles and Mr. Owen Bethel for their support.”

Military styled themes still continue to be a major trend in fashion photography. Local fashion-avatar store Bang Bang & Blaanix, bring their fashionable twist to the subject with the editorial ‘Operation Maracas’ for their latest campaign.

ISLAND Spotlight :: Weekend of the 26th- 27th with Mez

This Friday was an extra special night. Yes I don't care what you think. It was my Half-Birthday, that time of year where one gives thanks for making it halfway to their annual birth celebration.

Fuq a snowstorm, we stomped that shit out, its Manhattan, we don't play that NJ crap. Nearly froze mah fuqing toze off too .

Made it to Johnny Utah's and had 4 tables held down by my Blaqlist fam. Chris, Darrius, Roy and Conchita all rocked out and we literally saved that night.

Word to the Wise: don't wear loafers after a snowstorm and try jumping drains... frostbite will get u.

Shout out to my boy Mark who was having a great time over @ Fat Baby (I may start my nights there from his response).

Saturday was a personal Day, went over to Queens to celebrate a friend's birthday and My God. Nuves Nightclub was rocking. It's a spanish club(so beware) but the ladies were top o' the line!

Film director and artistic photographer, Dominic de Bourg shares with film themed 'Point of Synergy'.

A contrast of one city with two faces; faces painted by the inks of industry and poverty. How does one city contrast so greatly? In this film, Amilcar Sanatan and Dominic de Bourg journey through Port-of-Spain to show this contrast, to show the Point of Synergy.

The de Bourg/Sanatan collaboration on the contrast of life has been entered to the Commonwealth Film Competition for 2010. It's a small contest, but the forum and platform is large so feel free rate, comment and or express your views; a Commonwealth forum on human rights.
